We always begin with a thorough spine consultation to determine if any of our treatment offerings may be able to help you. At your initial consultation appointment, you’ll be asked to complete a written form detailing your history and to provide us with any special imaging reports such as x-ray, MRI, CT or other prior written reports related to your spinal condition. Dr. Chong reviews your case thoroughly at the next visit, a 15 minute appointment called your “report of findings”. At that next appointment, there is opportunity for you to discuss and choose the treatment option that is right for you. If we at CSDC feel that we are unable to help you, we’ll do our best to direct you to who we feel can help.
At CSDC, your care is always our #1 priority. We always maintain high standards of professional, ethical and quality care of clients.
The staff at CSDC have networked with several well trained medical exercise specialists, personal trainers, and physiotherapists to be able to provide you with several options to properly rebuild your back health. Once you have completed the DRX program, we would refer you to one of our specialists for assessment and we would continue to follow up and monitor your care to help you achieve long-term quality results.
Like many other forms of therapy, you must find something that is suitable for you. The staff at CSDC want you to have the best opportunity for success without being at risk. According to the recommendations of Axiom Worldwide and the American Spinal Decompression Therapy Association, if you have any of the following conditions, you may not be a candidate for treatment on the DRX 9000™:
Tumors, abdominal aortic aneurism, fractures, metal implants/screws/plates in the spine, advanced osteoporosis, pregnancy, other condtions/diseases that compromise the structural integrity of the spine and discs (eg. rheumatoid arthritis, Down’s syndrome, paraplegia/quadriplegia).
We constantly monitor your progress so appropriate changes can be made to achieve the best results for you. If you do plan on taking a vacation in the middle of treatment, we recommend starting after the vacation, or completing the treatment before leaving. To achieve the best results, the treatment protocol schedule should be followed as closely as possible.
It is not currently covered by the provincial health plan, however, some extended health benefits do consider non-surgical spinal decompression chiropractic care, and a certain amount may be covered. WCB currently does not cover this treatment.
From the time you arrive to the time you leave, it is approximately an hour appointment. You are on the actual DRX machine for 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of ice and therapeutic laser. Depending on your symptoms, some soft tissue therapy may also be included in the treatment, to help reduce muscle spasm, as well as chiropractic adjustments to help improve the mobility of the joints in your back and improve your nervous system function.
Every client is different. Some clients respond after 5 treatments, and others take more than 20. The research is based on a 20 treatment protocol, which is spread out over 6 weeks. For the low back, you have 5 treatments a week for 2 weeks, then 3 treatments a week for 2 weeks, then 2 treatments per week for 2 weeks. If you have a neck condition, the treatments occur 3 days per week for 6 weeks. There will be subsequent follow up visits, and more treatments scheduled based on your success. Your care will be individualized to achieve the best results for you.

The DRX is new state-of-the-art spinal technology! It is FDA and Health Canada approved for non-surgical spinal decompression. It works by pulling gradually, following a logarithmic curve, and gradually builds up in tension, and pulls through 18 different cycles, over 30 minutes. The gradual increase in pull is able to relax the muscles in your back so they do not contract against the machine allowing the DRX to specifically target the areas in your spine that are causing pain/discomfort.
The DRX 9000™ targets specific areas in your spine, and reduces the pressure within the disc to help improve the exchange of fluids in the disc. The disc in your spine doesn’t have a blood supply, so once proper fluid exchange is re-established, the disc and its surrounding tissues are able to begin being nourished and healed naturally. Once the disc begins healing, the pain should also decrease.
